    25k rule only for …
    25k rule only for intraday traders (Pattern Day trader – more than 3 day trades in 5 business days) so to trade positions, swings etc 10k is enough to start an account.

    The $25,000 limit …
    The $25,000 limit must be maintained at all times. If not, they can (and will) freeze your account after making 3 or more “round trips” within 5 business days (buy and sell in the same day). I know, because it happened to me. As long as you hold over night you are fine.

    I am not a day trader. I read about the 25k requirement, but am I correct in thinking that this means you would need to have considerably more than 25k? This would be so that if your positions go down 5% you will still be above the 25k mark.
