What is the best way to study the currency market?

June 5th, 2011

With the many FOREX currency systems available, you can in theory, simply turn your computer on and follow the signals to generate automatic profits.

Thats the theory – but the fact is, there are many FOREX currency systems sold that are obvious scams, and the systems will never work.

This article aims to give you tips on picking systems that can make money, and avoid the scams.

There are two main reasons why most FOREX currency trading systems fail to live up to their Hype:

1. Black Box Systems

These are systems where the logic is not revealed to the buyer – and for a FOREX currency trading system to be used successfully, the trader must have confidence in it.

If you dont know the logic of the system, you will not have the confidence to follow it when a losing period occurs.

You need to follow a system rigidly to make money – otherwise you may as well not have a system in the first place.

Using a FOREX Currency trading system is all about having the discipline to follow the system – and if you dont have confidence in the logic, you will never do this.

2. Curve Fitting and Optimization

Another indication of a currency trading system that is a scam, is one that involves curve fitting, or optimization.

These systems give a fantastic performance in back testing – because of the tweaking of the system rules, to make them fit the data, and produce profits.

A trader once likened this to shooting holes in a barn door, and then drawing circles around every hole – to make each shot look like a bulls-eye.

Lets face it, we would all be millionaires, if we had tomorrows news today – but we dont.

Avoid any system that offers unique rules, or many variations for trading different markets.

If the system is based on solid logic – it should work on ANY trending market, and should not be optimized, or curve fitted to an individual market.

You will never see a hypothetical performance that fails!

Most unscrupulous vendors achieve great performance by making the system fit the data – and this causes the system to fail in real time trading.

Here are four tips, to help you separate out the scams, from the good FOREX currency-trading systems:

1. The Rules and Logic are Fully Explained

You will then have confidence in the system when it suffers a string of consecutive losses.

2. Some Evidence of a Real Time Track Record

Has the system has made money in the real world of trading?

This is the acid test of a system. If there is not a real record, look for a hypothetical audit done in real time – many systems do this before launching, and this gives a good indication of how the system will perform.

3. Look for Simple Systems

There is absolutely no correlation between how complicated a system is, and its profit potential. In fact, simple systems tend to work best, and will tend to be more robust in the brutal world of trading.

Most of the top FOREX currencies trading systems are based on simple logic.

4. Avoid any Optimized System

As already mentioned, if the system has sound principles, and then it should work on a broad spectrum of financial instruments – avoid any system that optimizes individual markets.

Not all FOREX currency trading systems fail – but if you want to get one that works, be realistic and do your homework first.

Is the Forex Foreign Currency Exchange Course worthwhile, or a waste of money?

May 29th, 2011

Is it worth spending $5000 on the Forex course to trade Foreign Currency, plus the $5000 towards a trading account, or is it a scam & waste of money?

If you have $10,000 risk capital and plan on spending 50% on a course, and 50% of it in a trading account, then that trading course better be really good. Most trading courses are not.

It would probably be a better idea if you traded that $5,000 with low risk per trade until you understood more of what it takes to be a profitable trader.

Then you can spend a few weeks or months finding out that perfect trading course, or doing your due diligence on the trading products that may be for you.

what is a foreign exchange trade?

May 27th, 2011

Depends on if your question is relating to trading the actual currencies, or trading the exchange rate of the currencies. I figure if it is worded as "foreign exchange" then it might be talking about trading one currency for another. If it was called Forex (which is short for Foreign Exchange), then I would say that it is talking about buying or selling the exchange rate between two currencies. For example, the currency exchange rate between Euro and US Dollar is 1.48 USD. I can trade that 1.48 just like trading a stock market, with the hopes that it would go up or down. That’s called the Forex. The Forex is the largest traded market in the world, and as I said, it’s short for Foreign Exchange. But usually if someone means Forex they say Forex, so if they said Foreign Exchange then they probably mean the trading of one currency for another.

What is forex and currency trading. Is it a kind of business?

May 25th, 2011

Please let me know in detail abut the forex and currency trading business?

It’s a way to invest your money kind of like the stock market. You are buying and selling, just like the stock market. But rather than buying and selling the actual currency itself, you are buying and selling the DIFFERENCE in value (aka the exchange rate) between two different currencies.

Best way to get into the Forex is to open a demo account at http://comefollowme.zulutrade.com/Performance.aspx and add some strategies to your portfolio. It’s all free, and it’s the largest Forex strategy website in the world. I’ll post some more links below in my sources.

I have been trading forex for a little while and am still confused as to how I can calculate the value of each pip change in my trades. That is, how much will I profit or lose by a change of 1 pip in the currency pair?

Full contract: 1 pip = $10.00

Can you offer advice on foreign exchange?

March 13th, 2011

I’ve been playing around with the fun money on ExpressFX from this site:

http://www.fxclub.com/expressfx

It’s definitely compelling to invest real money towards foreign exchange trading, but I would feel more comfortable with some advce from those who have tried it.

Some questions I have:

Can the value of currency ever fall to 0 like shares in a stock market?

Can I ever end up owing more than I have invested? (I wouldn’t think this is possible).

Are there any other programs or companies that are like or better than Express FX?

A foreign currency can collapse to zero. The US dollar could theoretically but if it did it would drag the global economy down with it. Its a miserable time to be in currency exchange as an investment.
